The Illinois Finance Authority has a new tool to help regions throughout the state suffering from the twin hits of recession and the prolonged aftermath of damage from severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that came during the summer of 2008.

OK, here’s my dilemna: I want to be a filmmaker/screenwriter, and I got accepted to two film schools but am unable to attend either one because of financial roadblocks. First, I live alone w/my mom who has jacked-up credit and is unable to get loans approved, therefore she can’t co-sign on any loans for me. Secondly, I don’t have any kind of credit whatsoever (I’m 18) and, I’ve been informed, no bank would ever trust someone under the age of 24 w/a $20,000+ loan. I’ve tried scholarships, and I got a few minor ones ($500-$4,000) but they don’t even begin to cover the cost. Does anyone know any way else I can finance my education? This is my lifelong dream on the line here…

I am not legible for a Pell Grant. Should I:
A. take out student loans (program costs about $4K)
B. work P/T, go to school P/T
C. work F/T until I can save enough to go to school F/T
Other details:some courses are only offered in the Fall. If I don’t take those classes this Sept., I will have to wait another year.
There are a lot of opportunities in the field I am pursuing.

Ok… so I got into a huge fight with my parents and when i say huge I mean HUGE.
Im a senior in hs and i got accepted into UK and was always planning to go there..
Well.. my dad now is refusing to pay for me..
I HAVE TO GO TO COLLEGE! my future depends on it right??
Well, Am I able to take out student loans @ 17.. without a parent’s signature??
Im edesperate I have to go!
Do you know any sites or idk just any advice can help ALOT right now!
The thing is.. my dad is a cardiologist and I def will not qualify for Aid…. Im so scared… I need this and Not trying to be dramatic, my parents seriously hate me, theyve told me it before.

I am a biracial male high school senior with a white single mother and we are classified as middle class. I want to go to Ball State Univ., if I do get accepted there I will get in-state tuition. I have worked a summer job at a theme park since I’ve been 14. I make good grades in the B range about 3.4 GPA and I am pretty active. However, I am having difficulty finding scholarships and I feel discouraged about paying for college. Is there anybody with a single parent who has been successful with college and can give me advice?

I’ve found the basic government aid that everyone is entitled to, but I understand that math and science teachers are in extremely high demand and there are many programs available to help them earn their degrees, but I can’t find them.
I’m a 27 white male with no children, just finishing up my first semester.
